    A Brief History

    Roger Schillerstrom grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He graduated from Cornell in 1977 with majors in Sociology, Spanish and Political Science. After college, he worked as a youth director in Jefferson, Iowa before moving to Chicago to attend the American Academy of Art. Roger began his art career as a freelancer in 1982. He joined the staff at Crain Communications as the Editorial Cartoonist for a number of weekly business publications (most notably Crain's Chicago Business). He returned to freelancing in the Fall of 2016 when the company laid him off due to budget cuts. His editorial cartoons have consistently been awarded for excellence by the Chicago Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

    NAPERVILLE ART LEAGUE CARTOONING CLASS for Grades 4-8

    I will be teaching a 5 week series of classes on Cartooning at the Naperville Art League (508 N Center Street in Naperville), beginning Wednesday April 5. We'll practice quick sketches, learn some tricks of the trade and, most importantly, how to draw cartoon characters. We'll meet at 508 N Center Street in Naperville on April 5, 12,19 and May 3 and 10. Class time is 4-5pm. Join us!

    April 9 and 23, from 1-3:30pm, I will be teaching a cartooning class at the Naperville Art League (508 N Center Street in Naperville). We'll explore how to draw cartoon people and animals while learning a bit about perspective and movement. Join us!

    I Get Angry Like A Tiger, Children's Book Designed and illustrated by Roger Schillerstrom, written by J.A.Durbin

    First-time Children's Book author, J.A.Durbin, and I teamed up to illustrate her Children's story.The story was taken from stories she told her own children as they were growing up. "There are no good or bad emotions. Making good decisions about how to act will help you feel good about yourself not matter how you are feeling."

    Drawn To Golf, written and illustrated by Roger L. Schillerstrom

    For almost 20 years, Roger worked with the weekly publication Golfweek, creating editorial cartoons that addressed the goings on in professional golf. Drawn To Gold is a collection of his editorial work. "Roger Schillerstrom's creations are unlike anything else found in sports journalism, let alone golf.
